Introduction to the Role of a Supervisor - Leading Self and Teams

This pilot session is being offered as an extension to the current Supervisor Series courses for those who aspire to be a supervisor and would like to develop their leadership skills focusing on developing and managing teams. During this session, held May 23 from 8:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the Rhododendron Room at the Mountainlair, we examine the fundamental aspects of the supervisor’s role in leading, developing and coaching effective work teams. We will delve into group dynamics, how to improve dysfunctional teams and provide tools for providing recognition and coaching others.  Learners will relate how emotional intelligence influences their capacity to lead and develop others.

Participants will be better able to accomplish these goals:

  • Review the fundamentals of Leading Self including the analysis of Emotional Intelligence.
  • Demonstrate understanding of establishing effective team dynamics and how it impacts coaching.
  • Define and discuss various ways to coach and lead different types employees.
  • Apply and practice techniques that create clear expectations for effective work groups, recognition, and communication skills among teams.
