Summer 2018 dissertation writing retreat planned

The Eberly Writing Studio's Dissertation Writing Retreat is a week-long event May 21-25 meant to help students in the beginning stages of their dissertations.

·  get a jump-start on writing.

·  carve out quiet and focused time to write.

·  learn tips such as time management and how to overcome writer’s block.

·  get support from people who are experiencing the same challenges of competing demands (i.e. work, family, school).

·  devise a realistic schedule for writing after the retreat.

Each day of the week will consist of a brief morning conversation based on a topic relevant to dissertation writing, a long period in the afternoon devoted to writing, and an opportunity to workshop writing or troubleshoot writing issues.  The workshop is free to participants; we will provide copies of resources, keep the coffee brewing, and make sure snacks are available as participants write. We only ask that participants commit to all five days of the retreat.

Note: The Writing Retreat is not meant for students who need large-scale editing help, who are looking for discipline-specific templates on writing a dissertation, or who are hoping that the retreat coaches can serve as proxies for dissertation advisors.
