At West Virginia University, we understand the importance of firsts – the first day of class, being first in line and of course, the first day of a new job. And because we believe you never get a second chance to make a first impression, the Division of Talent and Culture is excited to announce several enhancements to the new employee onboarding process. These updates include:
A dedicated New Employee section of the Talent and Culture website. These pages are packed with information about WVU and the greater-Morgantown community to help recent hires get off to a great start during their first days with the University.
A New Employee's Guide for a Successful First Year, which is filled with resources to help new employees through the entire onboarding process – from before their first day through their first-year work anniversary.
There also is a companion Supervisor's Guide to Welcoming New Employees, which is designed to assist supervisors in onboarding their new employees.
Further, we are developing a program, which we are calling the “Mountaineer Experience,” to introduce recent hires to WVU’s mission, vision and values as a part of New Employee Orientation. Stay tuned for updates on the program.
“The Talent Strategy team is excited about these and other enhancements we are implementing to enrich employee onboarding at WVU,” said Andrea Yanego, director of Talent Strategy. “Our goal is to provide employees who are joining the WVU family with the best possible onboarding experience.”
“WVU’s employees are our most critical investment in achieving the University’s mission, vision and goals,” said Maria Mancini, director of Leadership and Organization Development. “These updates represent the culmination of a lot of hard work across multiple teams over several months, and I’m excited to see these efforts pay off for WVU’s new employees.”
