Eastern European Security summer study abroad opportunity

Boris Barkanov encourages faculty and staff to promote this opportunity students who may be interested in Eastern European and Russian politics, as well as, energy security and policy to participate in a course on Eastern European IR and Security this summer. An informational session will be held today (Feb. 20) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in Woodburn 306E.

This is a six-credit course focusing on relations between the West and Russia with a focus on the Baltics. Credits can be applied to political science, international studies, and/or SEES. This opportunity can contribute to political science and international capstone!

Students spend three weeks in Europe divided between Geneva, Switzerland, and Lithuania. Field trips include the Russian UN mission, the Lithuanian ministry of defense and ministry of foreign affairs, the American embassy, a liquid natural gas facility, and an old Soviet nuclear missile base.

The program is financial aid-eligible and costs about the same as six credits at WVU.
