Community Music Program offers fiddle workshops for spring term

Violin graphic

Do you play the violin and want to try a different kind of music? Have you ever found yourself drawn to the sound of a fiddle tune that gets your foot tappin’? If so, please rosin up your bow and join us. The workshops focus on traditional fiddle tunes and styles from the Appalachian region. Music will be taught by ear, keeping with the oral tradition; but sheet music can be provided upon request. These Community Music Program workshops are open to intermediate-level string players, ages 10-to-adult. Some knowledge of how to play the instrument is required, but oldtime experience is not. The stand-alone, one-evening workshops (or come back every month) happen Wednesday evenings Feb. 21, April 25, May 16, and Tuesday June 26 from 6:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., in the Creative Arts Center. For more information and registration call 304.293.6946.
