Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life seeks faculty/staff for mentorship program

The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life is currently seeking interested WVU Faculty and Staff to serve as volunteer Academic Mentors for social fraternities and sororities on campus.

Faculty/Staff mentors are members of the WVU community who work with an individual social fraternity or sorority on ensuring high academic achievement. You do not need to be a member of a Greek organization to participate; you need only a desire to work with this special population of students.

Responsibilities of a mentor may include:

1.) Helping the chapter develop a written academic success plan for all chapter members.

2.) Meeting one on one with students who fall below a minimum academic standard to identify methods of improvement.

3.) Presenting academic achievement awards each semester to students who earn above a 3.50 or who have made significant improvement.

4.) Serving as a member of an alumni/ae advisory board.

Training will be available on Feb. 21 from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. in the Greenbrier Room of the Mountainlair. Register for training.

Questions may be directed to Matthew Richardson, Director of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, at matthew.richardson3@mail.wvu.edu
