Events this week at the College of Creative Arts

Students in the WVU College of Creative Arts perform more than 300 events per year in many venues across campus, Morgantown and the state. Many of the events are free to the public and family friendly. The following is a list of this week’s events. For a full listing of events, please visit calendar.wvu.edu/site/ccarts.

Jazz Ensembles Concert

Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Jazz Ensembles Concert will feature the big band, two student combos and three jazz vocalists. They will perform music from the American Songbook, Sammy Nestico, Bob Mintzer, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard and Kenny Baron.

Art Up Close!

Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

Dylan Collins will discuss Alice Aycock’s interest in works of art that hybridizes the seemingly opposite conventions of science and magic.

Music at the Pylons

Feb. 14 at 12 p.m.

WVU Art Crawl

Feb. 15 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

WVU is hosting a campus wide Art Crawl, which will highlight the many active campus organizations that have artistic or interpretive programming.

Jazz Thursdays at Morgantown Brewing Co.

Thursdays at 9 p.m.

Students from the WVU Jazz program will be providing free live entertainment every Thursday during the semester at the Morgantown Brewing Co., on Beechurst Avenue, downtown Morgantown.

Mesaros Galleries: Dan Hernandez - "Genesis" and Jeffrey Moser - "Duel"

Open Monday through Saturday, noon to 9 p.m.

Dan Hernandez, painter, presents a skewed understanding of mythology, religion and violence, enlightened by popular culture. Jeffrey Moser is a digital media artist who is currently a Teaching Assistant Professor of Interactive Design for Media at West Virginia University. His video and audio work investigates the binary relationships between visual and conceptual opposites.

Art Museum of WVU: "Impulse: A Trip Inside"

Open Wednesday and Thursday 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; admission is free.
