The campus community is invited to a reception honoring Frances Bennett Clark, the director of Upward Bound/TRIO, who is leaving WVU to direct TRIO programs at Virginia Tech. She began her career at WVU in 1994 in the marketing and recruiting division of the Office of Admissions and Records. In 2001, she joined the staff of Student Support Services/ TRIO, and became the director of Upward Bound in 2007. Clark was also instrumental the implementation of the new FirstGen Living-Learning community. She was a visiting instructor for the Counseling MA program and a member of Cohort 4 of the Mountaineer Leadership Academy. Clark’s efforts to help students overcome academic, social and cultural barriers to earning a college degree will be celebrated Dec. 4 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Rhododendron Room of the Mountainlair.
