The WV GIS Technical Center housed in the Department of Geology and Geography, will celebrate the annual GIS day today (Nov. 15), by hosting nearly 100 high school students from Morgantown. GIS Day is devoted to celebrating Geographic Information Science by recognizing all the ways GIS touches communities. It occurs annually in the middle of Geography Awareness Week. Students will get exposure to GIS projects throughout the state, volunteer efforts in mapping developing areas, a discussion of educational and professional careers in GIS, and finally given a tour of the GeoVirtual CAVE, a new frontier in GIS research.
