Are psychopaths responsible for their actions?

Jeanette Kennett

Jeanette Kennett, a professor in the Department of Philosophy at Macquarie University, will give a talk on "Competence, Attributability and Blame: Resolving the Responsibility of the Psychopath," Thursday (Oct. 26) at 4:30 p.m. in the Downtown Library's Room 2036. This talk is hosted by the Department of Philosophy.

Kennett is a professor of moral psychology (philosophy) and holds a joint appointment between the Department of Philosophy and the Centre for Cognitive Science at Macquarie University. Kennett’s work in moral psychology is internationally renowned, and she has been at the forefront of a movement in philosophy which has seen increasing recourse to data from the sciences to inform debates in meta-ethics and moral psychology. Her publications include "Agency and Responsibility: A Common-Sense Moral Psychology," "Reasons, Emotion and the Psychopath" and "Mental Time Travel, Agency and Responsibility."
