Sara Bishop, assistant director of Identity and Access Management in Information Technology Services, is retiring after 24 years of service. Join us for a celebration in her honor July 13 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in room 6117 of One Waterfront Place.
Bishop started out in 1993 as an applications systems analyst programmer senior in the accounting systems group, supporting financial-related systems and working with the controller’s office, business offices across campus, and computing services.
She quickly moved on to become senior information systems specialist in Human Resources, and then an HR project manager. In that role, she worked closely with the State of West Virginia and WVNET to design, develop and implement a University and Statewide HR system using PeopleSoft.
In 1998, Bishop became an assistant director of Human Resources and was a team lead for the original MAP implementation. She joined the former OIT’s Information Systems group in 2000, serving as assistant director over development. After the consolidations that led to the creation of ITS in 2014, she assumed her current position. In 2016, she was nominated for and won a RockIT Award winner for Outreach, part of the ITS employee recognition program.
Bishop was in the original cohort of the Mountaineer Leadership Academy. Her MLA team used the need for a new research administration system as our project and facilitated much of the foundation for how Kuali (WVU+kc) would be rolled out to campus.
She also: led the team that brought up the original Mountaineer administrative processes HR, payroll and LD modules; implemented the original electronic Student Evaluation of Instruction application; led efforts to implement the original electronic blue sheet; and led efforts to implement Oracle’s Identity Management solution resulting in one username – one password for WVU enterprise systems.
Bishop plans to spend her free time with family, working on her yard and flower beds, and continuing to serve as coordinator of the Goodwill City Ambassadors and other volunteer activities.
