Morgantown prepares for 28th Independence Day Concert

Fourth of July fun is just around the corner and Morgantown will celebrate all day next Tuesday. Activities begin at 11 a.m. in Hazel Ruby McQuain Park as the Morgantown Community Band, directed by C.B. Wilson, WVU’s associate provost for academic personnel, performs. The program marks the 28th consecutive Independence Day Concert, which has been continuous since 1990. This year’s program will feature old favorites and will appeal to all ages. In keeping with long-standing tradition, Wilson will tie the program together with a theme that is not announced in advance. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and sun protection (hats, umbrellas). Parking is available in the Municipal Parking Garage in the Wharf District.
