Omar Yacoub, service assistant professor of English and assistant director of communication across the curriculum at WVU, is serving as a consultant alongside Indiana University of Pennsylvania professor Dana Driscoll to help establish Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University’s first writing center.
During the recent week-long visit, Yacoub delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony exploring the changing role of writing centers in supporting learning and communication, emphasizing support across disciplines, hands-on learning, and the use of artificial intelligence.
He also led tutor training sessions focused on helping tutors work with and support STEM writers.
