The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative in the Office of the Provost received the Education Impact Award from the West Virginia Chamber Foundation at the inaugural Champions of Learning Gala on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Charleston.

The award recognized the WVPEC for its statewide efforts to bring together education, business, and community partners to address challenges and create opportunities for West Virginia’s education system in the areas of STEAM, early literacy, teacher recruitment and retention, workforce development, and more.

“It is such an honor to be recognized by the West Virginia Chamber Foundation with the Educator Impact Award,” Donna Hoylman Peduto, executive director of the WVPEC, said.

“This award fully aligns with our statewide mission of advancing education at all levels through innovative outreach programming for students and educators, and is only possible through collaboration with our amazing supporters, advisory board, and close partners who contribute to our success.”

The Champions of Learning Gala was hosted by the West Virginia Chamber Foundation and the West Virginia Department of Education to recognize individuals and organizations committed to making a difference in public education in the Mountain State.

The WVPEC was founded in 2015 by the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation, members of the West Virginia Board of Education, WVU, and Shepherd University with the mission of building bridges, connecting ideas, and creating opportunities for collaboration.
