Hosted by the School of Pharmacy Kappa Psi Beta Eta, the Mountaineer mascot recently kicked off the Reach Out and Read 5K at the Student Rec Center.
The event collected nearly 90 books to be distributed to pediatric patients during their checkups.
During the race, students from various health fields also engaged in activities with local youth to promote healthy behaviors.
The initiative supports the Reach Out and Read program, which provides children with books during their routine medical visits to encourage early literacy.
