Ed Buckbee — who was present at the birth of the American space program and then ran the famous camp that inspired a new generation of astronauts — was a Romney native who played baseball at Potomac State College before joining ROTC and later graduating with a journalism degree from Potomac State College.
He was inducted into the WVU Alumni Association’s Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 2004.
Following his death earlier this month at age 89, NBC’s “Today” show looked back on Buckbee’s “A Life Well Lived” Sunday (April 26).
