The Office of Innovation and Commercialization is launching the new program to optimize the experience for both researchers and companies interested in partnering and moving research into real-world applications.
For researchers, the program streamlines and accelerates the contracting process, providing upfront details on terms, pricing and expectations. It also helps remove business uncertainty by allowing all sides to focus on bringing research innovations to market as quickly as possible. Additionally, the preset terms and streamlined process ensures research projects can move forward quickly — helping ideas move into real world applications faster.
For companies, the program paves the way to commercialization by making it easier to engage with research by providing clear eligibility, requirements and a choice between two prepaid licensing pathways for sponsors to secure patentable inventions.
Aiming to be accessible, collaborative, innovative and built for real-world impact, WVU Innovate Express will help research and technologies shine.
WVU Innovate Express is offered in addition to the University’s traditional sponsored research framework. For projects requiring nonstandard terms, the University’s traditional negotiated sponsored research and licensing pathways remain available.
