Hosted by the Department of Medicine at the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place March 27-28, the event welcomed health care professionals from across the region for education, collaboration and discussion on advancing irritable bowel disease care.

The symposium brought together a growing, diverse group of attendees representing multiple states, including Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland and Florida.

The program featured a variety of educational sessions designed to support multidisciplinary collaboration in IBD care. Breakout sessions allowed advanced practice providers, pharmacists and physicians to engage in case-based discussions and address real-world challenges within their respective areas of practice.

Additionally, panels further emphasized the importance of coordinated, team-based care across specialties, including gastroenterology, surgery, radiology, dermatology and pharmacy.

The symposium is led by course directors Dr. Jennifer Hadam, Kanwarpreet Tandon and Anna Digman.

“I am continually inspired by the growing regional collaboration showcased at the annual Mountain State IBD Symposium,” Hadam said. “The shared passion for advancing care in inflammatory bowel disease is evident in every discussion and connection made. I look forward to building on this momentum each year to strengthen our community and improve outcomes for our patients.”

“The Mountain State IBD Symposium was a success,” Digman said. “It was great to see various states represented at the conference. The conference continues to foster relationships within the IBD community and improve care for patients with IBD”

“I am honored to be a course director for the IBD Symposium, as coordinating the experience from year-to-year challenges me to think about gaps in care/difficulty points that are present regarding caring for patients with IBD. I look forward to aiding in making this conference more robust with each passing year and continuing to enable relationships to be formed between various states/practice sites,” she added.

Organizers extend their appreciation to all attendees, speakers and sponsors who contributed to the success of this year’s symposium.
