Dan Sepion, a dedicated advocate for student success who brings nearly 25 years of experience and a strong record of transformational leadership to the role, has been named dean of students at WVU Institute of Technology.
Prior to his new role, he served as the associate dean of students, where he oversaw Housing, Student Rights and Responsibilities, and Campus Life.
Since joining WVU Tech, he has been instrumental in strengthening campus culture and enhancing the student experience.
Over five years, Sepion drove a 12% increase in residential occupancy and led engagement-focused initiatives that yielded a 6.8% increase in the number of students who said they believe campus living contributes to academic success.
These efforts included the integration of academic support into residential communities through live-in tutor positions and redesigning New Student Orientation into a two-day, interactive experience centered on learning outcomes and improving student satisfaction.
Prior to WVU Tech, Sepion served at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology for eight years, where he led a 66% increase in the residential population and guided the development of a comprehensive housing master plan.
His career also includes leadership roles at Washington University in St. Louis, Spring Hill College and Blackburn College, with experience spanning student conduct, international student services, academic advising and student activities.
Recognized for his collaborative leadership style, he has consistently worked in partnership with faculty, staff and student leaders to foster inclusive and supportive campus environments.
As dean of students, he will continue to advance student leadership initiatives and support student success across all dimensions of the collegiate experience.
