The Talent and Culture Leadership and Organizational Development team is offering a variety of professional development courses focused on career and leadership to University employees throughout the spring semester.

Instructor-led offerings include the following:

LOD Reads Book Club: Open to all WVU and WVUM employees, Book Club is a relaxed space to explore new ideas, talk about real workplace experiences and build community across campus in a meaningful way. Participants will read at their own pace, then join the group every other month for engaging discussions on the Morgantown Campus or online. If reading more is one of your goals, this is a great way to start.

The first book is “Difficult Conversations — How to Discuss What Matters Most” by Stone, Patton and Heen. WVU Libraries can help you find a copy of this book. There are several copies available in print or as an ebook. If all WVU copies are checked out, it can also be requested from Inter Library Loan for free.

If you have questions about how to obtain a copy, contact Anna Crawford at Anna.Crawford@mail.wvu.edu or use the Ask A Librarian chat. If you’d like to keep your copy, the book is available to purchase from Amazon or various bookstores.

Register to attend the LOD Reads Book Club and/or the optional kickoff on Jan. 15.

A discussion on “Difficult Conversations” will be held on March 5, along with the introduction of the second book.

Leading Forward Series: Designed for new, current and aspiring leaders, this two-part series is a blended curriculum that addresses foundational leadership skills while also providing advanced strategies and development opportunities.

Both in-person and virtual live sessions will be offered beginning Feb. 6.

Register to attend the Leading Forward Series.

In addition to live offerings, the LOD team offers online training for learning anytime.
