Statler College to host VEX Robotics Competition Jan. 10-11

More than 55 middle school and high school teams from across West Virginia will compete at the 2026 VEX Robotics Competition Jan. 10-11 in the Mountainlair, Gold and Blue Ballroom.

Student teams will design and build a robot and compete in an elimination-style skills match for a chance to advance to the VEX Robotics State Championship in Fairmont from March 8-9.

The high school competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 10).

The middle school competition will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 11).

The following is the tentative agenda for the competitions: 

8 a.m. — Doors open, inspection begins.
9 a.m. — Qualification matches, judging begins.
Noon — Lunch
1 p.m. — Qualification matches resume.
3 p.m. — Alliance selection.
3:15 p.m. — Elimination tournament begins.
4 p.m. — Closing ceremony and awards.
