Brett Kenney, a professor of food science at the Davis College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, was one of five West Virginians to be awarded an Honorary American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention and Expo last month.
A Hampshire County native, Kenney earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from WVU, master’s degree in food science from Oklahoma State University and a doctoral degree in animal science/meat science from Kansas State University.
He is a dedicated educator, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in animal and food science, as well as managing the Davis College Meat Lab, where students gain valuable hands-on experience in meat processing and product manufacturing.
The highest honor awarded by the National FFA Organization, the degree is dedicated to those who have made outstanding contributions and demonstrated exceptional service to the agricultural industry or high-quality teaching that inspires students to strive for success.
Less than 1% of all FFA members achieve the high honor of receiving the Honorary American FFA Degree.
