The WVU community is invited to a celebration honoring Brian Hoover, development officer for the Honors College, who is set to retire Sept. 5.

The drop-in celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. Monday (Aug. 25) in the Mountainlair, Mountaineer Room. Ken Blemings, dean of the Honors College, will share brief remarks at 3 p.m.

Hoover has dedicated more than three decades to serving WVU in roles spanning admissions, financial aid, student services and development.

Beginning as an admissions counselor in 1992, he went on to lead key recruitment and scholarship initiatives, including the Mountaineer Student Network, WVU Scholars Program and the University’s PROMISE Scholarship operations.

Over the years, Hoover guided thousands of students through the admissions and financial aid process, coordinated prestigious scholarship programs such as the Bucklew and Foundation Scholarships. He also helped launch the HUB at Evansdale Crossing.

Since 2018, he has helped advance the Honors College through fundraising, alumni relations and scholarship development.

Colleagues and friends are welcome to join in celebrating Hoover's accomplished career.
