In support of the continued focus for West Virginia University on recognizing and rewarding high performance across our institution, the Division of Talent and Culture will launch the 2024 performance review process on March 10 for classified and non-classified staff and certain FE/AP employees.
Aligned to the University’s core values, the annual performance review process is designed to measure an employee’s capabilities, accomplishments, development and overall contributions to WVU as well as the critical role each employee plays in bringing our land-grant mission to life.
The 2024 performance review period will cover Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2024.
Throughout the performance review period, Talent and Culture teams will work with leaders across the University to provide additional support and training as we continue to work to ensure that staff members receive a thorough and effective performance review experience.
On March 10, employees will receive a link via email from the performance management system to complete a pre-review. See the pre-review form.
The pre-review is optional but strongly encouraged. Pre-reviews provide employees with the opportunity to more actively engage in the performance review process by reflecting on their accomplishments, providing their supervisor with thoughts on their work over the past year and identifying opportunities for growth. Employees can complete their pre-review until March 21.
Beginning March 24, supervisors will receive an email to their WVU account from the performance management system with instructions to complete a performance review for each eligible employee (those hired prior to July 1, 2024). All reviews must be completed by April 9. Vice presidents and deans should review and approve all final ratings from April 16 to April 25.
From April 28 through May 14, supervisors will conduct employee review meetings to provide details on each employee’s performance review.
Note: As part of this year’s process, WVU Research Corp. employees will use the standard WVU Research Corp. performance management system for completing their reviews.
Performance review resources can be found online or through free Leadership and Organizational Development eLearning courses.
