The West Virginia Health Sciences and Technology Academy recently celebrated more than three decades of empowering West Virginia’s youth through its transformative programming with an event held in Flatwoods.
The event brought together university officials, alumni, educators and community board members to honor the program’s past achievements while envisioning its bright future through testimonials, tributes and a reaffirmation of the joint vision that continues to make the program a success.
Through the years, the program produced 3,439 graduates. Eighty-seven percent of the graduates have college degrees and 84% of them still live and work in West Virginia, contributing to the state’s growth and development.
The program started in two West Virginia counties, and currently has a presence in 27 counties, a testament to the proven model and strong partnerships that make the program possible.
