The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently completed a five-day audit of the WVU Institutional Review Board, and no findings or exceptions were found.
The FDA regularly conducts audits, or inspections, of IRBs at universities to ensure compliance with regulations and to protect research participants.
In its latest audit of WVU, the agency reviewed full board, emergency use requests and humanitarian use device approvals that fell under FDA regulations.
A formal report will be issued in the coming months.
The last FDA audit was in 2018 — also with no exceptions or deficiencies found.
