Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to come together this week (Nov. 11-16) to learn about the realities of hazing, including what it looks like and how it impacts lives.
The week will also spotlight Medical Amnesty and the legacy of Nolan Burch, who tragically lost his life in the fall of 2014 due to overconsumption of alcohol in an unsanctioned fraternity hazing incident.
Events will be held throughout the week to raise awareness that hazing can affect anyone joining a group — including Greek Life, bands or varsity sports — and promote safe, inclusive practices within our community.
In Nolan’s memory, we are sharing a powerful message “Save a Life, Make the Call!”
Together, let’s commit to a safer campus and ensure no family has to endure a similar tragedy.
Campus partners from the Student Government Association, Mountaineer Parents Club, School of Social Work, Project 168, WELLWVU and the Purpose Center will join the Center for Fraternal Values and Leadership to host the educational programs and training sessions.
