Celebrate First-Generation Week by hosting activities, getting involved

First Generation Graphic

First-Generation Initiatives invites the WVU community to help celebrate First-Generation College Week slated for Nov. 4-8.

Colleges, departments and units are encouraged to spotlight their first-gen faculty, staff and students on websites and social media and/or host an event for first-generation individuals and their allies to gather.

Activities may include hosting a snack or treat station, creating a photo booth with first-gen props or hosting a small event.

First-Gen Initiatives will provide banners, buttons and faculty/staff door cards. First-Gen signs will also be available to borrow on a first come, first served basis.

Share all first-gen activities, no matter how big or small, by Wednesday, Oct. 30.

Faculty or staff members who are first-generation college graduates are encouraged to self-identify in Applaud. Find instructions on how to access Applaud.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate your journey, support the next generation of first-gen students and connect with your fellow trailblazers.
