The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences will host Narinder Kapur as he presents “Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi: Perspectives from Psychological Science, Justice, and Wellbeing” at 4 p.m. Oct. 2 in the Mountainlair Gluck Theater or on Zoom.
Kapur will discuss the ideas and actions of Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi in relation to the psychological science of truth and compassion, to justice issues in health care and to the principles of human well-being.
He is a visiting professor of neuropsychology at University College London, an honorary consultant neuropsychologist at Imperial College NHS Trust and former president of the British Neuropsychological Society.
The Gandhi-King Lecture on International Relations and Peace Studies annually celebrates the work and wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The lecture discusses the ongoing significance of a peaceful, nonviolent approach to dealing with national and international problems, issues and conflicts. It also makes connections between contemporary India and the United States.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
