Get ready for an inspiring and transformative week as the Purpose Center hosts its third annual Week of Purpose starting today (Sept. 23).
With more than 50 events planned across campus, there’s something for everyone.
“Week of Purpose is more than just events on the calendar,” said Cate Schlobohm, outreach and programming manager. “It’s a week-long opportunity for faculty, staff and students to reflect on their ‘why’ through hands-on activities, workshops and intentional, focused conversations.”
Some early week events include the following:
Understanding Generation Z and Knowing Our Students will be held from noon to 1 p.m. today (Sept. 23) and Thursday (Sept. 26) on Zoom.
Participants will explore data collected during New Student Orientation and through Gallup surveys to help understand the top natural talents and strengths of our incoming freshmen and our student body as a whole. Attendees will discuss how this information can be helpful while interacting and communicating with students from Generation Z and building curriculum and programming, and how you can leverage your own unique strengths as you work within higher education.
Faculty Panel: Working Strengths into your Curriculum will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 24) on Zoom.
Join a panel of faculty members who have successfully integrated Strengths-work into their curriculum. This panel will be moderated by the WVU Purpose Center Director Whitney Godwin and the audience will have an opportunity to hear from and ask questions of various faculty panelists.
The Purpose In Me will be held from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 24) in the Mountainlair, Shenandoah Room.
The Center for Black Culture will celebrate the Week of Purpose with Sharon Smith Banks, a retired educator discussing finding the purpose within.
“My favorite part of this celebration of purpose is helping people realize the value in their strengths, life experiences and goals,” Schlobohm said. “When people tell us they feel ‘seen, understood or important,’ that is my best day at work and Week of Purpose will help facilitate many of those experiences.”
