West Virginia University Police issued a Community Notice Thursday (Sept. 12) to inform the University community that officers are aware of and monitoring for online messages threatening violence at unspecified school locations.
Based on the current assessment, law enforcement officers have determined the threats are not credible.
Similar threats have been reported in Harrison County, Marion County, Preston County, parts of Pennsylvania and elsewhere in the region.
Anyone with information that could be helpful is asked to call University Police at 203-293-COPS (2677) or visit the department at 992 Elmer Prince Drive. Information may be shared anonymously.
