3 Evansdale trees to be removed Thursday

To ensure the safety of our campus community, three trees located on the Evansdale area of campus will be removed on Thursday (July 18) due to their declining health.

Two of the trees are located in front of the Evansdale Greenhouse while the third tree is located between the Evansdale Library and the Advanced Engineering Research Building. All three trees slated for removal are in decline and have been deemed a potential risk to pedestrians in the area.

To accommodate the removal of the trees, those driving on Evansdale Drive may experience minor detours through the Area 43 parking lot on Thursday.

Through the University’s Tree Campus USA program, a committee made up of faculty, staff and students actively manages and cares for our campus trees, which includes monitoring the health of trees and ensuring they remain safe for all to enjoy. The team plans to plant new trees this fall in the general area of the trees that are being removed.
