Faculty from the Eberly College gathered earlier this month to participate in the inaugural Foundational STEM Collaborative Symposium, a daylong event that provided many opportunities for collaboration, team building and peer learning.
Faculty from a range of units, including biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics, presented and discussed their research projects with the group.
Participants gained insight from each other regarding innovative pedagogical techniques, improved assessment practices and the benefits of implementing strategies to improve student metacognition and feelings of belongingness in STEM courses.
With the goal of improving learning and the course experience for all students participating in introductory STEM courses in the Eberly College, discussions were held to determine which faculty-led initiatives the FSC will focus on during the 2024-25 academic year.
