“Bridges in Digital Health,” which recently received $3 million from the National Science Foundation, aims to address the combination of rising health care costs, the expansion of the nation’s elderly population and health disparities through advances in digital health and artificial intelligence, in addition to training the next generation of professionals to develop and deploy such advances.

Open to doctoral and master’s degree students at WVU, this fellowship is available for students in diverse fields of study, including computer science, engineering, health sciences, physical sciences, business and economics and other areas related to human health.

The trainee may be supported by a fellowship that pays a $34,000 stipend each year, plus a tuition waiver. Doctoral students with stipends will be supported for two years, while master’s students will be supported for one year.

Fellowship with stipend requires U.S. citizenship or permanent residence. However, a trainee could also be a non-resident or non-citizen, but without a stipend.

Trainees that complete all elements of the traineeship, whether supported by a stipend or not, will receive a graduate certificate in digital health.
