School of Pharmacy DEI provides Ramadan awareness

Ramadan

A number of our students will be celebrating Ramadan from Sunday (March 10) to April 9. In an effort to spread awareness and mindfulness about the Muslim holy month, the School of Pharmacy DEI has provided the following information:

  • During the holy month, Muslims abstain from food, drink and intimate relations from dawn to dusk.

  • In addition to Islam’s five daily prayers, Muslims add nightly prayers to their observances where they recite the Quran.

  • Muslims aim to optimize their acts of worship by praying in congregation, reflecting upon the Quran, donating to charities and more.

  • The end of Ramadan is commemorated with Eid al-Fitr, which means “the feast of the breaking of the fast.

Additionally, DEI will organize a Ramadan awareness event on the Health Sciences Campus in early April that will include snacks and an opportunity to engage and ask questions. Date and time are TBA.
