FSAP offers Mental Health First Aid certification training

mental health

Similar to physical First Aid and CPR, Mental Health First Aid teaches individuals how to assist others experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis until professional assistance is available or the crisis is resolved.

Attendees will learn the risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for additional support.

To accommodate faculty and staff schedules, the training will consist of self-guided online learning and two half-day, in-person sessions. Participants must complete the online work and attend both in-person sessions in the training series to receive certification.

The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program will offer the training sessions March 25 and 27 in the Peak Health building, 1085 Van Voorhis Road, and April 15 and 17 in the Mountainlair.

Register to attend.
