The Health Careers Opportunity Program is accepting applications from recent high school graduates who are preparing to attend college in the fall.

The free three-week HAPPEN summer experience program  (July 7-26) is designed to enhance basic college-level knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in a health career goal.

Students experience a slice of college life by staying in the residence halls while participating in fun evening and weekend events.

The program offers a course in math or chemistry and tutoring to help them get a head start on college skills. Students are paid a $62 stipend for each class day.

This program is open to all West Virginia residents who qualify as underrepresented in college, including an under-represented minority, financially disadvantaged, first-generation and/or rural student.

Students do not need to attend WVU in the fall to participate.
