Test of WVU Alert system set for today

The WVU Alert system, used to communicate with the University community during emergencies, inclement weather and other incidents, will be tested for the Morgantown Campus at 1 p.m. today (Jan. 17).

In addition to notifications through email and text, the test will include push notifications to those who have downloaded the LiveSafe mobile app.

Read more about how to receive push notifications and other information via the LiveSafe app.

The WVU Alert system utilizes a three-tiered notification system — WVU Alert, Campus Warning, Community Notice — to inform the University community about emergencies and other incidents near campus.

This allows the University to communicate as effectively as possible with faculty, staff, students, parents and other community members with guidance provided by the Clery Act.

Prior to today’s test, everyone is encouraged to check their information within the WVU Alert notification system for accuracy.

Faculty and staff must manually register for the emergency messaging system to receive notifications.

Students are automatically enrolled in the WVU Alert system through their MIX email but may need to add their phone number if it has not already been provided. If parents are also interested in receiving WVU Alert messages, students can add parental contact information through their account.
