An Awareness Walk and a viewing of the ESPN investigative documentary “Listen” followed by a panel discussion will be held in recognition of Stalking Awareness Month.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the Awareness Walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at the Student Rec Center where participants will walk around hurdles in honor of Lauren McClusky while reading facts and statistics on stalking.
McClusky was a University of Utah student-athlete who repeatedly sought help as her ex-boyfriend stalked and harassed her, but the people and the institutions responsible for listening to her and protecting her failed at every turn.
The WVU community is also invited to attend a viewing of the ESPN investigative documentary on McCluskey titled “Listen” along with a panel discussion with campus and community experts at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Mountainlair Gluck Theater.
The events are hosted by the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, in collaboration with WVU Athletics, Carruth Center, Housing and Residence Life, UPD, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and the Monongalia County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
