Libraries accepting submissions for Faculty/Staff ‘Art in Libraries’ Exhibit and Awards

WVU downtown library

The WVU Libraries Art in the Libraries Committee is seeking submissions for Faculty/Staff Exhibit Awards, and invites current faculty and staff to submit exhibit ideas visually showcasing their scholarship in new and experimental ways.

Submissions should present an evolution of one’s work by visualizing research, influences and findings. The goal of these awards is to provide a multidisciplinary platform for deeper learning, while fostering intellectual discourse, and demonstrating the breadth of the University’s creative and innovative activities.

The winner of the Faculty/Staff Award will receive a $1,000 professional development fund award and an exhibition in the Downtown Campus Library, Room 1020. The winner will also give a public lecture, program or demonstration. Non-art faculty or staff may submit a proposal based on their academic research with the potential to be visualized with Library consultation and with access to limited resources.

Each award includes help with design, installation, promotion and coordination of a public program, offering an opportunity for exposure.

Winners will be selected by the Art in the Libraries Committee and selection will be based on applications that best meet the award’s goals listed above. Proposals with the most complete vision will be given the strongest preference.

Applicants may contact Sally Brown via email at Sally.Brown1@mail.wvu.edu for a tour and/or consultation before applying.
