‘The Jealous Curator’ to give Deem Distinguished Lecture

Art Collage

Danielle Krysa, the writer behind the contemporary art site “The Jealous Curator” who has curated art shows all over North America, will present at 5 p.m. tomorrow (Sept. 26) in the Canady Creative Arts Center Bloch Learning and Performance Hall.

Funded by Patrick and Alison Deem, the annual lecture helps further the WVU educational experience by exposing students and faculty to cutting-edge artists and arts supporters.

“Through her blog and social media presence, Danielle shares compelling creative work in order to ‘flip the script’ and transform collective feelings of envy and jealousy into appreciation for our fellow artists' creative excellence,” said Dylan Collins, associate professor of sculpture.

“Danielle is a force of nature not only as a curator, but also as a visual artist and author, and we feel her multivalent skill set will speak volumes to our students as they navigate both personal and collective success in the contemporary art world,” Collins added.

For nearly 30 years, the Deem Distinguished Lecture Series has brought internationally recognized artists and scholars to present a free public lecture and engage with our students and the Morgantown community, a highlight of every school year.

“The School of Art and Design is grateful for Alison and Patrick Deem's friendship and camaraderie in supporting this flagship lecture series, which has made an indelible and positive impact on West Virginia University,” Collins said.
