First graduate student ombudsperson available to support students

Kayla Follmer

Kayla Follmer, associate professor of management at the John Chambers College of Business and Economics, will serve as the first WVU graduate student ombudsperson, beginning her three-year term this fall.

Graduate and professional students are encouraged to contact Follmer at gso@mail.wvu.edu when seeking guidance to evaluate a challenging situation or conflict, identify relevant resources or contacts across the University, learn more about processes and procedures, or simply talk to an impartial, third-party individual to review options and discuss potential strategies or approaches on how to resolve an issue.

The ombudsperson is not a part of the University administration and will serve as a confidential, independent and neutral resource throughout the academic year. Conversations will be informal and held in strict confidence, offering assistance for those who voluntarily seek services. The GSO does not take sides in any matter and will be available for both in-person and virtual meetings.
