Student Engagement and Leadership presented 12 awards during its annual Student Organization Excellence Awards Banquet.
The following received awards for their 2022-23 accomplishments:
Kenneth D. Gray Student Leadership Award – Matthew Hudson
Named after the former Vice President for Student Affairs, Kenneth D. Gray, this award is designed to recognize exemplary leadership among current senior and graduate students at WVU.
Outstanding Faculty/Staff Award – Jennifer Clutter
This award aims to recognize an adviser who has at least three years of experience as a student organization adviser at WVU, and who has had a positive impact on a student organization and the University community.
Outstanding Graduate Student Organization Award – Physics and Astronomy Graduate Student Organization of West Virginia University
This award aims to recognize a graduate student organization that demonstrated consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity and perseverance. This organization has made a meaningful contribution to students, WVU and/or the surrounding community.
Outstanding New Faculty/Staff Award – Lindsey Rinehart
This award aims to recognize a faculty or staff member at WVU who is in their first or second year advising a student organization who provided outstanding support.
Outstanding New Student Organization Award – WVU Asian Association
This award honors a newly recognized student organization that exhibited initiative in organizational development and strong potential to contribute to the quality of life as a recognized student organization at WVU.
Outstanding Student Organization Award – Society of Women Engineers
This award recognizes a student organization that demonstrated consistent flexibility, initiative, creativity and perseverance, while making a meaningful contribution to students, WVU and/or the surrounding community.
Outstanding Student Organization Leader Award – Steven Chettleburgh
This award aims to recognize a student leader who provided exemplary service, commitment and strong leadership to a student organization at WVU.
Outstanding Student Organization Online Presence – 100 Black Women at WVU
This award aims to recognize a student organization with the most impressive online presence including utilizing a combination of web and social media.
Outstanding Student Organization Program – African Student Association for African Night: The Surge
This award aims to recognize a student organization program that enhanced the University community.
Outstanding Teamwork/Collaboration by a Student Organization Award – Muslim Student Association
This organization is being recognized for their work with Islamic Relief USA and the All American Grand Bash for their Charity Meal Packing Event. This award aims to recognize a student organization that worked most effectively with other student organizations, University departments, and/or the Greater Morgantown community.
Quiet Influence/Unsung Hero Award – Alexia Morrow
This award aims to recognize a student who put their heart and soul into everything they did, but often went unrecognized, worked “behind the scenes,” and who went above and beyond typical requirements of a general student organization member.
Richard T. Feller Outstanding Alumni Award – Travis Mollohan
This award aims to recognize an alumnus who has made significant contributions to WVU and the surrounding community. This alumnus provide unwavering support of the Student Government Association.
