In April 2024, WVU will undergo a comprehensive evaluation by the Higher Learning Commission for reaffirmation of its accreditation, an event that occurs every 10 years and touches every area of the University.

Ensuring that WVU is well positioned for reaccreditation is an institution-wide undertaking. The next several months will be spent preparing for the evaluation, which will conclude with an on-site visit by a team of peer reviewers.

The required comprehensive report demonstrating University compliance with all criteria for accreditation depends on both formal input and informal engagement from members of the campus community across the institution.

To learn more about the accreditation process and your role in it, join the Office of the Provost for “Preparing for Accreditation 2024,” a series of presentations and discussions focused on the HLC’s criteria for accreditation.

"HLC Accreditation Criterion 2 — Integrity: Ethical and Responsible Conduct" will take place at 1:30 p.m. Friday (April 14) at the College of Law, Room 142.

Participants will engage in dialogue and brainstorming about how WVU can best demonstrate that this criterion is met on campus.

All members of the campus community are encouraged to attend, regardless of their level of familiarity with the reaccreditation process.

Bring your own coffee or beverage. Cookies provided by a private donor will be available.

Additional events will be held Sept. 1, Oct. 6 and Nov. 3. A final campus review of the self-study will take place Jan. 19, 2024, on Zoom.

Details for the upcoming events will be added to the Provost’s Office website and shared in MOUNTAINEER E-News and through other communication platforms as dates approach.
