Unplanned steam outage affecting Martin Hall and Woodburn Hall

Woodburn Circle Campus

As a result of a steam line break near Armstrong Hall on Thursday (March 16), heating and domestic hot water will be periodically affected today (March 17) and throughout the weekend in Martin Hall and Woodburn Hall.

Additionally, to prevent pipes from freezing due to the forecasted low temperatures this weekend, WVU Facilities Management plans to shut off the water to Martin Hall and Woodburn Hall through Sunday (March 19).

Further, areas of the sidewalk between Armstrong Hall and Elizabeth Moore Hall will be closed to pedestrian traffic for the remainder of today (March 17) as crews work to repair the steam line

Work is expected to be completed and steam service is anticipated to be restored in Martin Hall and Woodburn Hall by Monday (March 20).

In the meantime, building occupants in Martin Hall and Woodburn Hall are encouraged to work from home or from another campus location, if possible.

If operational needs require faculty and staff who work in Martin Hall or Woodburn Hall to be on-site, these employees should be sure to dress appropriately as building temperatures are expected to be much cooler than normal.

The Facilities Management team appreciates your patience as we work to complete these emergency repairs.
