Joseph Jones, visiting assistant professor in the Reed College of Media, will serve as the next speaker for Faculty Talks from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday (March 9) on Zoom.
His presentation is titled “How the Black Press Counters Hegemony, Redeems Democracy and Cultivates Care.”
Jones will lead a discussion examining the Black press and its role in fulfilling the promises of a society that claimed all men were created equal. He will demonstrate how the Black press helped realize democratic ideals, explore the transformation of the Black press in the digital age, and offer contemporary examples on the current state of the Black media.
