Dozens of high school students from across West Virginia will be on the Morgantown campus as the University hosts the Academic Showdown this Saturday (Feb. 11) at the Mountainlair.

The academic head-to-head competition between Mountain State high schools for grades 9-12 is a partnership between the state Department of Education, West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, West Virginia Public Broadcasting and the state Department of Arts, Culture and History.

Teams will participate in a double-elimination competition. Each school is allowed up to two teams. Regional tournaments are underway in five regions at universities around West Virginia, including WVU this weekend. The top two teams will move on to the final showdown in Charleston.
