Female mascot featured on new coloring sheet

Mountaineer Mascot Coloring Sheet

The Women’s Resource Center teamed up with Sheree Wentz, a multimedia specialist with University Relations, to develop a coloring sheet as a tribute to the female Mountaineer mascots.

“Although we realize that one image cannot perfectly represent all women, it is past time for the creation of a Mountaineer image that represents women,” said Leslie Tower, director of the Women’s Resource Center.

The tradition of the Mountaineer mascot began in 1927. Natalie Tennant served as the first woman mascot in 1990, Rebecca Durst in 2009, and Mary Roush, the first freshman to be named as the mascot, served starting in 2022.
