The University Public Art Committee is accepting applications for the PRT art mural theme "Icons and Traditions."
A maximum of one proposal per applicant will be accepted.
The University Public Art Committee will review applications to ensure compliance before submitting to an adjudication committee comprised of members of the University community and public.
Three to five finalists will be selected by the adjudication committee, and the submissions from those finalists will be shared with the campus community for a public vote.
The selected mural must be painted by the individual or group who submitted the winning design. It is expected that the selected mural will be installed during the month of March with an unveiling occurring in April.
The application criteria are as follows:
Eligibility: Open to all WVU students
Selection criteria: Effective representation of the chosen theme, aesthetic appeal, originality and design must be consistent with the University Code of Conduct. Proposals that allow community participation in the creation of the final mural will be given extra consideration.
Applications must include:
title of the proposed mural
the name of the unit sponsoring the application (including recognized student organizations)
the name of a faculty member who endorses the proposal
a paragraph that details the mural (200 words maximum)
a proposed budget for supplies (one page maximum).
the budget should include the level of financial support from the sponsoring unit
an 11x17 landscape of the mural submitted as a JPEG at 300DPI
details regarding special assistance needed from the University to install the mural such as ladders, scaffolding, etc.
