UPDATE: Planned steam outage change for Evansdale

hsc evansdale campus

Due to extenuating circumstances, a planned steam outage will now take place today (Nov. 21) through 6 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 22).

A previous version of this announcement stated that the outage would begin at 6 a.m. Sunday (Nov. 20) and last through noon today.

To accommodate repairs and enhancements to the WVU steam infrastructure, the Facilities Management team is working with its steam provider on this planned steam outage.

All steam across the Evansdale area of campus will be shut down during the outage. Heating, domestic hot water and lab steam will be affected at the following campus buildings:

  • Advanced Engineering Research Building
  • Agricultural Sciences Building
  • Agricultural Sciences Building (Annex)
  • Agricultural Sciences Building (South)
  • Allen Hall
  • Canady Creative Arts Center
  •  Engineering Research Building
  •  Engineering Sciences Building
  •  Evansdale Greenhouse
  • Evansdale Library
  • Mineral Resources Building
  •  National Research Center for Coal and Energy
  •  Percival Hall
  •  Student Recreation Center

Heating and domestic hot water also will be affected in the following residence halls:

  • Bennett Tower
  • Braxton Tower
  • Brooke Tower
  • Lyon Tower

Supplemental steam will be supplied to the Health Sciences Center during the outage. However, researchers located within the other affected buildings should consider delaying any new research projects that could be impacted by the outage, if possible.

The Facilities Management team appreciates your patience as we work to complete this critical work. If you have questions or concerns about the outage, contact your building supervisor to discuss your specific needs. You also may contact Facilities and Services at FacilitiesandServices@mail.wvu.edu with any general questions.
